Thanks all for the participation! We've got over 200 members and 300 articles now and personally, even though I have 23 years industry experience, I've picked up some nice tips and ideas. I still have a lot to learn in this ever changing business and you all here have helped me.
I do regret that every so often we have experienced a problem with a spam message on the board. I apologize about that. I monitor all the time and try to catch it and delete it as soon as possible. Also, I'm working on a more permanent fix.
Again, please tell others about our insurance community here, post your comments and check back frequently. Thank you! Kurt |

Hello all! I just registered and I am looking forward to sharing ideas. I have owned my own agency for 27 years now and constantly looking for new marketing ideas. Also, it doesn't hurt to know what the industry is doing elsewhere.
Great idea Kurt,
Thanks for putting this together!
Having had a brief sojourn as an agent I have much more sympathy for you all then I did!!! If you have questions you want to ask an adjuster, please let me know, I will do my best to answer them for ya! Even the silly questions, as my opinion is the only silly question is the unasked one!!
Cheers,
Hi, Adjuster Gal. This is my first post on this new forum, and I
look forward to being an active participant.
You and I are mirror images of each other, as I used to be an
adjuster. An adjuster for the first 3 1/2 years, and an agent for
14-my preference becomes obvious.

| Kurt, Thanks for this great forum. You are correct, I learn more at the company meeting breaks from my fellow agents than the meetings them selves. |

|
|
The insurance industry is only one of the few, where top producers share ideas with all who willl listen.
I have been agent since 1974 and always listened to good idea.
The best idea I can give young agents is to get organized.
I breakdown all insurance requests by the month.
End of every month, breakdown by the week for the following month.
Every Friday, breakdown by the day for the following week.
Our office writes over 30 types of insurance and have almost a 1000 clients in 4 states with 5m volume. Very selmon do I lose an important contact or service request. _________________ JERRY W BROWN |

My name is Gene Ford and I am a "baby" in the Insurance Agent Industry. I recently got my license and am now an Independent Agent for American Capital Insurance, in Houston, TX. I am glad that I found this site and am able to get great ideas from seasoned Agents. I want to thank you all in advance for ideas you will share with us. I am what they consider a "Shark", so I am going to take what I learn and run with it, hoping to one day pass it down to future agents. I am aiming my mark on commercial business, so if anyone has any tips for me, please share.... Stay encouraged! _________________ Gene L. Ford/Agent

|

Good Afternoon All!
It is a pleasure to be part of this forum. I am always looking for new ideas and I also like to pass on ideas that have worked for me.
I am an Allstate agent in Linthicum, Maryland. Have been with Allstate for 18+ years but in the insurance business for over 25 years now. I've been using one method that has been working for me for a couple of years now. It was passed onto me by a Nationwide agent. Once a week I will ride around the neighborhoods near my office. I have my digital camera and take photos of homes that are in good condition. I write down the address of the home and this is what I do. I take the digital photo of the home and print it out on a marketing brochure/letter that states that I really think their home is really nice. To go one step further, I also print out a picture of the home in the return address area of the envelope that I mail to them. My return address is on the back. They receive a letter and see their home and it arouses their curiosity. People take pride in their home and when it is acknowledged they are very receptive for a conversation about their insurance. Give it a try! You might be surprised.
